a few questions...

Sorry everyone!
It's just an extremely busy time for us and our schedules aren't allowing us as much time to do this as we'd like...slackers we are, I tell ya.. ;)

I read through the pages...and really walked away with a couple of major themes..
God used little prophets against "giant beasts" and we see this again and again throughout scripture and written history. From the Flood to the Tower of Babel, we see a people who wanted to make a name for themselves...to "attain the beauties of Heaven" - and we know what happened.

What are your thoughts on the "Prosperity Gospel" and how it affects the family of Yahweh? And how is our nation becoming another society that is trying to attain the beauties of Heaven?

How are we to be a people set apart from a modern day empire (as America is viewed during these times..)?

Do we confuse being American with being Christian?

Just some things I've been thinking about...

Jesus For President - Sept. 14th Update

Hi everyone!
Sorry if this is a day late (and for some of you, two days...heh)

I haven't been able to converse with Hannah much on the pages we'd like to start, but I would like to go ahead and assign pages 25-60 (if that isn't too much...I don't really know how to gage these things) but I definitely think it's doable considering most of the pages in this book contain small paragraphs with lovely illustrations. :) But I also realize this section deals with a lot of history and details, so we'll see how it goes.

So yes, Section One - "Before there were Kings and Presidents" pg. 25-60 -- And we will post some questions Tuesday! (And perhaps even your views on the first several pages - they are indeed very powerful)

So when are we going to get this party started?

It is September 11, 2008. We have exactly four days (less for those in Uganda, where it is already September 12) until September 15, which is the middle of the month. I have been patiently waiting for the middle of September so we can start this damn book club already, so I'm just saying. When are we going to get this party started?
